Ok I HAD to write this post, this shit is driving me crazy …
Not a day goes by that I don’t see someone posting on social media with 3 or 4 supposedly hilarious hashtags that I can’t read for the life of me. And I’m pretty good, when people post those pics with numbers where letters are, I can usually make them out pretty easily. I cannot however make out a huge ass hashtag that blends together in a line of 30 or 40 characters.
Do I care too much about this shit?
Yes, probably.
I can’t help it though, when I see something like these pics it just boggles my mind that the person posting that shit, doesn’t realize how hard it is for other people to understand.
You see this in PAID advertising posts, how can supposed ‘marketing professionals’ get away with something so OBVIOUSLY fucking ridiculous?

This is how it should be done.
<< Here is a pic from my instagram feed.
YES, this goes against everything you were taught in middle school, that capitalizing every word was BAD, but we live in a new age, its a bold new day for the english language so go ahead and capitalize the shit out of your hashtags. This is what we would call #SentenceCase
HOWEVER, notice how I didn’t capitalize #nerds, there is no need when just a single word.
I get it.
instagram defaults to all lower case hashtags, so that means you, YOU the human who is posting the content has to consciously make a decision to override the default and type with meaning.

Thanks Graham, #DontLetMeCatchYouFuckingThisShitUpNow
So true. I also find it hard to read people’s hashtags these days and if people did it this way it would certainly help. However I find the ridiculously long sentace hashtags stupid to begin with, and yes I know I’m guitly of using a few on Instagram, but the longer the hashtag the less likely it is that you NEEDED to hashtag it and the more likely you are trying to be ironic or funny by doing it, which you aren’t, so stop.
I kinda like the smart ass really long hash tags though 😉
